Here are some of the most common questions that A Greener Cleaner are asked regarding our cleaning services. We hope you find this information useful.
Q&A
How long before I can use the room after the carpet has been cleaned?
You can use the room immediately as A Greener Cleaner will supply you with free plastic booties for your feet.
How long does it take my carpets to dry?
It will depend on the amount of soiling within the carpet and the length of the carpet. Heavy traffic dirty carpets will take longer to dry. With dirtier carpets we will use higher pressure which can increase your dry times to up to 10 hours. Normal carpets will dry in 6 to 8 hours. Basements can take 8-15 hours. You can use your carpets immediately after cleaning as we will provide you with shoe or sock booties for your family.
It’s snowing and raining; can I still clean my carpet?
Yes, the dry time is still the same if not faster. In the winter and early spring, we recommend you turn heater up to 75 and open windows approximately 2 inches. This allows the humidity to be removed while pressurizing the home with the furnace on.
What is two-step cleaning & why it is recommended by most carpet manufacturers such as Shaw Industries, the largest Carpet manufacturer?
We use a two-step cleaning process. First a pre-spray cleaning solution to loosen soil, then a hot water fiber rinse with a powerful vacuum to extract the cleaning solution and the dirt. This process keeps your carpet cleaner 3 times longer than other processes. This is why it is recommended by most carpet manufactures.
This method is considered to be the only way to effetely remove deep soiling and other embedded contaminants deep within the carpet fibers.
Steam cleaning gets the best results and also kills all bacteria and germs at the same time. It’s the preferred method and always better for allergy sufferers.
Many carpet cleaning companies run potable units or equipment that have lower suction vacuum and no rinsing systems. Residue that gets left in the carpet from inferior cleaning processes is what causes rapid re-soiling.
The carpet cleaning process is no different than washing your hair, or car. You apply shampoo and then rinse it out. Imagine if you didn’t rinse it and just let it dry? When you do that to carpets, they look clean initially, but it leaves a sticky residue which gets dirty quicker. Our cleaning method rinses all cleaning agents out of your carpet so it will not attract dirt.
When you clean my carpet, does the padding or sub-floor get wet?
No. Our Two-Step Cleaning system uses a very powerful, deep-cleaning fiber rinse. The system extracts the cleaning solution and the dirt very effectively. That gets your carpets as clean as possible while leaving your padding and sub-floor dry.
I’ve heard water can ruin carpets. Is that true?
No. What harms carpet is poor quality machinery that doesn’t remove enough of the water to allow the carpet to go through the drying process properly.

Drying times depend on the fabric, as some fabrics are more absorbent than others. Most fabrics will be completely dry in 8 -10 hours, although some cotton upholstery may take up to 24 hours to be completely dry. The drying time is also affected by the how dirty the fabric is prior to the clean. A very dirty sofa will need a deeper clean and therefore a longer drying time.
What is the most important reason to clean my carpet regularly?
Impact on Indoor Air Quality
The fibers of carpets contain dust, mildew and pollutants that get trapped in the carpet fibers. The use of ceiling fans, furnaces, and air conditioners causes dust particles and other pollutants to start circulating in the room, contaminating the air you breathe affecting your indoor air quality.
Proper cleaning ensures these pollutants get removed, ensuring you breathe in fresh, clean air. It’s a small step with a major impact on your family’s respiratory health.
If family members are experiencing heightened allergy symptoms, your carpet might be the culprit. Regular cleaning reduces allergen levels, promoting a healthier living environment.
